Supporting Genesis Women's Shelter: An Evening At The Perot Museum

Earlier this month, Colton Richards and his fiancée, Bri Blatchley, attended the Genesis Young Leaders Masquerade at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas.

The event brought together hundreds of young professionals from across the Dallas-Fort Worth area for an evening dedicated to supporting Genesis Women's Shelter & Support and its mission to provide safety, shelter, and resources for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

Hosted at one of Dallas' most recognizable landmarks, the evening combined community, philanthropy, and awareness around an issue that impacts families throughout North Texas and beyond.

Supporting An Important Mission

For more than 40 years, Genesis Women's Shelter & Support has served women and children seeking safety, counseling, advocacy, and long-term support as they rebuild their lives following domestic violence.

While many people are familiar with Genesis through its thrift stores and community presence throughout Dallas, the organization provides a broad range of services designed to help families find both immediate safety and long-term healing.

Events like the Genesis Young Leaders Masquerade help raise both awareness and critical funding that allows those services to continue reaching individuals and families throughout the community.

A Unique Dallas Venue

Hosted at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, the event provided a memorable setting for an evening focused on both community and impact.

One of the things that makes Dallas unique is the number of organizations, businesses, and individuals who actively support causes throughout the city.

The Masquerade brought together professionals from across Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Richardson, University Park, Highland Park, and surrounding communities, all united around a common purpose.

While the evening was filled with networking, conversations, and fundraising, the mission remained at the center of the event.

The Power Of Community

One of the themes that stood out throughout the evening was the power of community support.

No single organization solves challenges like domestic violence alone. Meaningful change happens when nonprofits, volunteers, donors, advocates, and community leaders work together toward a shared goal.

Events like this serve as a reminder that creating safer, healthier communities requires ongoing participation and support from people across all walks of life. It's also a reflection of something we believe deeply at Apeiron Planning Partners — that the communities we serve are worth investing in, not just financially, but personally.

Charitable Giving Beyond The Numbers

As financial planners, we often discuss charitable giving through the lens of donor-advised funds, appreciated stock, qualified charitable distributions, and tax-efficient giving strategies.

Those tools can be valuable. But events like the Genesis Young Leaders Masquerade remind us that charitable planning is ultimately about something much bigger than tax savings.

It's about supporting organizations that align with your values. It's about helping create opportunities for others. And it's about using resources to make a positive impact within the communities where we live and work.

Looking Back

One of the things that makes Dallas such a special place to live is the number of people committed to giving back.

The Genesis Young Leaders Masquerade was a great reminder of the generosity, energy, and sense of purpose that exists throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth community.

For Colton and Bri, it was an opportunity to support an important cause, connect with others who care deeply about the community, and learn more about the impact Genesis Women's Shelter continues to make throughout North Texas.
